Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has placed former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq under a wanted list on charges of abuse of office and theft of public fund.

This move by the body charged with responsibility of investigating corruption-related crimes was made through a press statement on its website on Saturday.

In the statement, it was stated that: “Farouq, 52, is an indigene of Zamfara State and her last known address is EN008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja.

“Anyone with useful information as to her whereabouts should contact EFCC offices.”

The statement further gave contact numbers through which people can reach the agency to report any useful information which could help to trace and apprehend her.

Sadiya was appointed by the then President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari in July 2019 and she was the youngest minister in the Federal Government’s cabinet during the time of Buhari.

It emerged that FCT High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja had issued a warrant for her arrest on April 16, 2026.
