Ex-Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun’s husband passes away

Kemi Adeosun, who used to be the country’s Finance Minister, is presently mourning the loss of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun.

The businessman, known as Niyi Adeosun, passed on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos State, according to a statement released by the family.

Speaking of the death of the deceased, the family said that he was a Christian man, an entrepreneur, and a dedicated father whose life was marked by integrity and faithfulness.

“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.

The family disclosed that he passed away at the age of 62.

According to the statement, Niyi Adeosun was widely admired for his dedication to God, commitment to his family and service to his community throughout his lifetime.

“He was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him.

“He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God and an unwavering commitment to his family and community,” the family added.

The family said details of his funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced in due course.

The late Anthony Adeosun is survived by his wife, former Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun, their children and other members of the family.
