Muhammadu Mai Barga Besse, a former chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the Koko/Besse Local Government Area of Kebbi State, has reportedly passed away while he was kidnapped by the bandits.

The individual was abducted recently and was later spotted in a video that had gone viral online with another man who seemed to have been humiliated by the kidnappers in the Birnin Gwari Forest.

The news was reported on Tuesday by security and conflict reporter Bakatsine through his X page.

According to the news story, the loss of life of the individual means that both the individuals captured in the viral video are now dead without gaining their freedom.

The security reporter described the incident as a sad conclusion to the kidnapping ordeal that gained national prominence after the viral video from the forest.

The death of Besse has once again raised fears over the deteriorating security in some areas of north-western Nigeria, which is characterized by kidnappings, banditry, and long captivity of the individuals.

At the time of this writing, there was no official reaction from the relevant security agencies concerning the death of Besse in captivity.
