INEC begins 2026 recruitment, invites applications nationwide [See How to Apply]
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started its recruitment exercise for 2026, calling for applications from eligible Nigerians for positions within Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.
As per the statement issued by INEC on its recruitment portal, applications for the recruitment drive will open on Monday, July 20 and the deadline will fall on Monday, July 27.
INEC further added that the recruitment drive would help strengthen its workforce in relation to the conduct of elections and voter registration.
As per the statement by the commission, the applicants who are willing to apply for the positions are supposed to register themselves on the recruitment portal, fill out the online application form, and upload their credentials.
It was made clear by the commission that the entire recruitment process will not cost anything and hence applicants should not furnish any false information.
Available positions
The vacancies are spread across three categories:
Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12)
Applicants are required to possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent and, where applicable, a master’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution.
Candidates must also possess relevant professional certifications, including NBA, COREN, NSE, NIQS, ICAN, ANAN or CPN, depending on the position applied for, in addition to at least two years of post-qualification experience, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and strong analytical, communication, problem-solving and ICT skills.
Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences from a recognised institution.
They are also expected to present an NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate, alongside good knowledge of data management, record keeping and proficiency in Microsoft Office and other ICT applications.
Executive Officer (Registration Officer) – Grade Level 07
Applicants must possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent from a recognised institution, with good computer knowledge, data management skills, and effective communication and organisational abilities.
General requirements
INEC said applicants must satisfy all eligibility requirements for the position they intend to apply for and ensure that all information provided during the application process is accurate.
Application process
Interested candidates are required to create an account on the INEC recruitment portal, complete the application form and upload all required documents before the application deadline.
The commission noted that once a vacancy has been selected, it cannot be changed, adding that only shortlisted candidates will be invited to the next stage of the recruitment exercise.
