Judge flees as bandits launch attack on Sharia Court in Katsina

A Sharia Court based in Gwarjo village within the jurisdiction of Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State became a target of attacks by bandits, forcing the sitting judge to run away through a window to avoid kidnap.

This happened around 12:30 p.m. when the gunmen allegedly attacked the court, shooting randomly, and leaving all court staff and other members of the public in the area to run for safety.

According to sources, the sitting judge, Mohammed Muktar, who was presiding over cases inside the courtroom observed that some armed people were approaching the court from far.

Realizing the danger awaiting him, he immediately ran through a window.

This attack caused disruption in court operations and caused panic among the people, prompting residents to run out of the area.

“He quickly jumped through one of the courtroom windows and escaped before they entered the courtroom.

“The bandits entered the courtroom, fired indiscriminately and repeatedly asked for the judge.”

As of the time of filing this report, the police and the Katsina State Government had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
