Legendary poet Alabi Ogundepo dies at 84

Veteran Nigerian poet and Chief Alabi Ogundepo is dead aged 84.

The late chief was said to have passed away on Monday.

This was reported by his family early in the morning of Tuesday.

Details of his passing have not been revealed yet.

Dupe Ogundepo-Falana, in a statement made available to Very Nigerian, described the deceased as an icon whose contributions to Nigerian literary works would continue to inspire many people.

“Funeral arrangements and other details will be announced by the family in due course.

“The family kindly requests privacy and prayers as we come to terms with this irreparable loss,” he said in the statement.
