Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has now found himself embroiled in a petition against his victory at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal after APC and PDP each filed petitions against his victory.

The two petitions have been pinned on the notice board of the secretariat of the tribunal in Osogbo to commence the process following the August 15 governorship election.

The development came after the Secretary of the tribunal, Pefe Belemore, confirmed that petitions had been filed to challenge the outcome of the election.

The legal action could lead to a detailed review of the conduct and results of the election as the tribunal begins proceedings on the cases.

Belemore had earlier told Very Nigerian that the necessary notices would be displayed on the tribunal’s notice board before noon on Monday.

At the opening of the tribunal earlier in the day, Belemore was in the courtroom alongside other officials of the secretariat as preparations were made for the commencement of proceedings.

The APC and PDP are challenging the outcome of the election, which returned Adeleke for another term in office.

The display of the petitions is expected to pave the way for the service of processes on the parties and subsequent proceedings before the tribunal.

The APC’s petition, marked EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026, was filed by its candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, against Adeleke, the Accord Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The PDP’s petition, marked EPT/OS/GOV/02/2026, was filed by Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola against Adeleke, INEC and the Accord Party.
