Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi arrested over alleged false claim as Presidential Council DG

Adeyemi Adeniyi, who was said to be masquerading as the Director-General of a non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has been arrested by the police following the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest from a Federal High Court in Abuja.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday just after the issuance of the order of his arrest by Judge Mohammed Umar at the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

It was reported that the suspect was arrested by the police soon after the court granted the prosecution’s request for a bench warrant for his arrest.

The suspect was allegedly seen wearing a blue attire when he was arrested.

After his arrest, it was noted that the security personnel had begun to interrogate the suspect and kept asking for his name from him.

According to reports, the suspect had masqueraded as the Director-General of Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), which has been said not to exist by the Presidency.

Justice Umar granted the warrant of arrest after the accused failed to attend his arraignment hearing at the federal high court on eight counts, which includes allegations of forgery, fraud, and impersonation.

During the hearing, the defense lawyer opposed the application for the warrant of arrest and argued that the accused had missed his arraignment hearing at the federal high court due to fear of losing his life.

According to the lawyer, the accused has written a letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu informing him about the death threats and also stating that he wished to live to clear his name regarding the charges leveled against him.

However, Justice Umar disagreed and argued that there was no reason for the defendant’s failure to obey the court’s summons.

In reply to the accused’s fear of losing his life, Justice Umar told him that “the court will help him to be alive.”

The court ordered the security agencies to arrest the accused and bring him before the court.
