Zamfara Assembly recalls suspended Lawmaker after apology

The House of Assembly of Zamfara State has rescinded the suspension of Honorable Amiru Ahmad Keta who represents the constituency of Tsafe West.

According to Bello Madaro Kurya, Chief Press Secretary to the House of Assembly of Zamfara State, the information was contained in a press statement issued on Monday.

Honorable Amiru was one of the eight legislators whose suspension was announced by the House some time ago.

This decision has come after the consideration of an apology letter written to the House by Honorable Amiru.

Presenting the report, the committee chairman, Hon. Nura Dahiru Sabon Birnin Dan Ali, representing Birnin Magaji Constituency, recommended the immediate lifting of Keta’s suspension.

The committee also urged the lawmaker to withdraw all pending court cases instituted against the House and the Zamfara State Government.

Following deliberations and contributions by members, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, announced that the House had unanimously resolved to lift Keta’s suspension.

The Speaker said the decision took immediate effect.

Moriki further said the House remained open to other suspended lawmakers who were willing to tender unconditional apologies.

He commended the Committee on Ethics and Privileges for what he described as its diligent handling of the matter.
