Fresh blow for ADC as Gombe publicity secretary quits ahead of 2027
Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Party of Gombe State, Abdulrahman Buba Zaune, has quit from the party, sparking speculations regarding his new political home in view of 2027 governorship contest.
This was contained in a resignation letter penned by Zaune, dated August 5, 2026 and addressed to the chairman of the ADC Party in Zaune Ward, Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State.
Copies of the letter, seen by our correspondent on Thursday, revealed that the ex-spokesperson of the state thanked the party for the opportunities of serving in various roles in the ward, local government, state and national levels.
“I sincerely appreciate the political party for the opportunity to serve in different capacities ranging from the Local Government, State and National levels respectively.
“I therefore wish the party well,” he wrote.
The resignation letter, however, did not disclose the reason for his decision or reveal his next political destination.
His exit has nevertheless sparked speculations within political circles that he may be considering joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The development came barely 24 hours after the APC governorship candidate in Gombe State, Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna, visited Dukku Local Government Area, Zaune’s home constituency, as part of his political engagements.
The timing of Zaune’s resignation has further heightened interest as political parties intensify consultations and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
His resignation also follows the recent exit of ADC State Secretary, Ahmed Gana, who left the opposition party and later defected to the APC, declaring support for Gwamna’s governorship ambition.
