A total of 22 individuals in Kwara South Senatorial District were rescued from the captivity of armed bandits.

This follows an intense and successful joint operation conducted by the security forces of Kogi State including Military, Police, Hunters, and Vigilantes in the forest areas at the Kwara-Kogi State border, as per the statement by Kwara South Joint Security Watch on Sunday.

Those rescued were said to have rejoined their respective families.

From the statement, four people from Idofin-Igbana community who had been kidnapped three months ago, 15 Ikerin Church members who were kidnapped at Eda Oniyo on April 28, 2026 during a vigil and three out of the eight people that were kidnapped at Omugo ECWA Church in early April 2026 during worshiping, have been rescued.

It should be recalled that five people that were kidnapped at Omugo ECWA Church died recently under unknown circumstances.

According to the security outfit, “there are also others yet to be identified who regained their freedom from the same proactive actions in Kogi State.

“We give glory to God for answered prayers. We commend the bravery and sacrifice of the Kogi State Joint Security Operatives,” the statement added.
