Four feared trapped in Kano two-storey building collapse

A building under construction which is two floors high has collapsed at Sultan Road in Kano metropolis leading to the trapping of four persons.

This happened at around 9:00 am as reported by the witnesses and workers who are at the construction site.

At the time of writing this report, three of the victims had been successfully rescued while search and rescue team was busy in their efforts to rescue the last individual trapped under the debris.

The cause of the building collapse is unknown at the moment.

Witnesses claimed that there was some indication of structural weakness when the workers were working on the second floor and they hurriedly evacuated the building. The building then collapsed just few seconds after the evacuation of the building.

Some of those trapped under the building were the security guards as well as a commercial tricycle rider.

One of the workers named Shu’aibu Yaro claimed that the supervising engineer spotted the signs of structural weakness and ordered the workers to evacuate the building.

Yaro claimed that the three rescued individuals who include the security guard and one of his friends have been admitted to Sir Muhammadu Sanusi Specialist Hospital in Kano following their injuries.
