Christian Eriksen collapses inside pitch during Denmark friendly match against Ukraine
Footballer Christian Eriksen, midfielder for Denmark team, regains consciousness following collapse during international friendlies between Denmark and Ukraine football teams held on Saturday.
From video footage aired by various television stations showing the game played, Christian suddenly collapsed on the field during the second half of the match, drawing immediate attention from both players, officials, and medical personnel attending.
The Danish Football Federation confirmed in their statement released via X: “Christian Eriksen is conscious and well under the circumstances.”
The collapse took players back to events that happened during the 2021 European Championship where Eriksen collapsed while playing in the opening match for Denmark against Finland in Copenhagen.
At this point, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United midfielder was saved through CPR administered to him on the field.
After thorough medical tests conducted on him, he was given an Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD). This device aids in regulating heart rhythms that could be risky to health.
More information on his health is expected soon from the Danish Football Federation.
