President Tinubu nominates Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power, after Adelabu resign
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the new Minister of Power, pending approval from the Senate.
This was revealed in a statement released on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
As stated in the release, the appointment of Tegbe is meant to enhance the ongoing reforms in the Nigerian electricity industry to ensure grid stability and sustainable investment.
Following the resignation of his predecessor, Adebayo Adelabu, who quit to seek election in another position, Tegbe’s appointment has been forwarded to the Senate for vetting.
An indigene of Oyo State, Tegbe is an expert in fiscal and economic reforms with more than three decades of work experience both in the private and public sectors.
He was also the former Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he oversaw projects on fiscal policy, governance, and institutional reforms.
He currently serves as the Director General and Global Liaison of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, overseeing joint development activities between Nigeria and China.
According to reports, Tegbe also had previous experience with regulatory and institutional reforms within the electricity sector, having worked closely with organizations like the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company.
“President Buhari looks forward to the Minister-Designate’s confirmation so that he can apply his vast knowledge and experience towards effecting positive changes in the electricity sector,” the press statement read.
