Cristiano Ronaldo became the first male footballer to score in six World Cup tournaments by scoring in the game against Uzbekistan in Houston on Tuesday.

The Portuguese captain, aged 41, who was under intense pressure due to the lack of goals in the recent past, scored from close quarters in only the sixth minute of the game and made history at the World Cup stage.

This is a testimony to the long career of Cristiano Ronaldo, a man whose first-ever goal at the World Cup stage came in the year 2006 when he scored against Iran while playing for Manchester United.

Cristiano Ronaldo received some criticism after a forgettable performance in a 1-1 draw against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the opening match of their World Cup campaign in North America.

His struggles in front of the goal were starkly different from other star names such as Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

Ronaldo, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of football, made his international debut in 2003.

Currently playing for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo netted 28 goals in 30 league games during this current season.

It almost looked like Ronaldo would score in just three minutes into the game in Houston as he missed connecting with the ball on the far post following a Nuno Mendes’ cross.
