JAMB explains ‘No result yet’ status for some 2026 UTME candidates
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has provided clarity on why some candidates are seeing the message “No Result Yet” while checking their 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
According to the board, the status specifically applies to underage candidates whose results have not yet been released. This explanation comes after a wave of concerns and enquiries from parents and candidates seeking answers.
In a statement issued by its Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB reassured the public that the situation is not an error, but part of its established process.
“The Board has received numerous inquiries from parents regarding candidates whose results are currently displaying ‘No Result Yet,’” Benjamin said.
He explained that the message does not indicate a technical error but is linked to the eligibility category of the candidates concerned.
“Please be informed that results for underage candidates have not been released. When such candidates attempt to check their results, the system will return the message ‘No Result Yet,’” the statement read.
JAMB reiterated that, in line with existing regulations, only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026 are eligible to register for and sit the UTME.
However, the Board noted that underage candidates may still be considered under an exceptional category, provided they meet strict performance benchmarks.
“As stipulated by regulation, only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by 30th September 2026 are eligible to register for and sit the UTME,” Benjamin stated.
“However, underage candidates may be considered under the exceptional category, provided they demonstrate outstanding ability by scoring 320 and above in the UTME and attaining at least 80% in subsequent screening stages.”
He further explained that only candidates who meet the exceptional criteria would be shortlisted for further assessment.
“In line with the agreement reached and endorsed by parents of these underage candidates, only those who score 320 and above will be shortlisted and invited to proceed to the next stages of the screening,” he said.
Benjamin added that successful candidates at that stage may still be considered for admission under the exceptional provisions.
“For now, results for underage candidates remain unreleased,” he said.
Central Post Nigeria reports that, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has officially announced the release of results of the candidates who participated in the 2026 UTME examination.
According to information from the body, 632,788 results have been released to date (Thursday 16th April, 2026), making it possible for many candidates to now see how they performed in the highly awaited exam.
“Candidates can check their results using the easy way of checking via SMS.” said the Spokesperson of JAMB, Fabian Benjamin in a press statement issued on Friday.
To see their results, candidates are instructed to send “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 from the same phone number which was used during their registration.
