In contrast to the timetable of activities for the general elections in 2027 announced by the All Progressives Congress, aspirants hoping to vie for positions within the political party find themselves in an awkward position regarding the acquisition of the nomination forms.

As stipulated in the timetable, the period set for the acquisition of the forms would be between Saturday, April 25 and May 2, 2026. As at Monday, none of the aspirants had managed to acquire the nomination forms.

During a visit to the All Progressives Congress National Secretariat located in Buhari House, 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, it could be observed that there was some level of anxiety among the aspirants and their representatives.

From the checks made, the political party has not availed itself of the bank accounts needed for the aspirants to pay for the forms

Moreover, it was noted that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the political party had failed to provide details of the account for the payment of monthly membership dues, which is one of the criteria that qualify aspirants to vie.

Addressing the media in Abuja on Monday, one of the aspirants, Osifo Stanley, decried the delay, terming it an administrative roadblock.

“Between Saturday and today, I have been calling various members of the party in order to get the account number for the form, but the party is still withholding information from us,” he explained. “We tried several times since Saturday, but our requests have fallen on deaf ears.”

Some other candidates who are contesting for different gubernatorial and parliamentary seats are also reported to be encountering such a problem.

It was reported that some of the aspirants’ representatives who called at the secretariat office on Monday did not get any attention nor received any information about the cause of the delay.

When attempts were made to contact party officials, there was no success as no one picked up when called on their personal cellphones.

Nonetheless, an insider from the NWC, who requested anonymity, admitted to the delay and pleaded for patience.

“Unfortunately, the selling of the nomination forms is delayed. We are making frantic efforts to ensure that we start the exercise. The party will ensure that the process is smooth and hassle-free,” the insider added.
