Soldiers of the Nigerian Army have arrested 10 suspected terrorists and freed three kidnapped individuals in various coordinated internal security operations conducted in the Federal Capital Territory and the North-Central zone.

This was revealed in a statement released to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday.

As stated in the statement, soldiers of the 176 Guards Battalion, together with the tracking team of the Office of the National Security Adviser, carried out the arrest of two suspected terrorists in a snap exercise at Abaji.

The operations were conducted in several areas and are aimed at combating the activities of terrorism, kidnapping, and other criminal acts within the North-Central region.

It further noted that the two suspects were stopped during their transit in a commercial bus traveling from Kaduna to Asaba.

The report stated that the suspects have since been apprehended and taken into custody for investigation.

In Benue, it disclosed that soldiers on fighting patrol in Gwer West LGA under Operation WHIRL STROKE arrested two suspected terrorists and recovered two motorcycles in the course of their duties.

Further operations in Nasarawa State saw six suspects being arrested for terrorism and drugs peddling in the Karshi axis of Karu LGA.

It noted that the arrests were made based on actionable intelligence and that soldiers seized a locally crafted pistol, bullets, among other things from the suspects, who were still in detention.

“Anti-kidnapping operations have also brought success with the swift response to distress calls resulting in kidnappers abandoning their hostages and running away.

“Mbakange in Katsina Ala LGA saw the rescue of one kidnapped individual and transfer to the police custody while two more victims got freed in Agidi, Konshisha LGA,” it added.
