US-Iran war: We have intercepted ship carrying Chinese ‘gift’ to Iran – Trump

US President Donald Trump has made known that American troops have seized a ship reportedly delivering a “gift” from China to Iran, thereby adding fuel to the fire as far as regional tensions are concerned.

In an interview, Trump explained that the ship was stopped while Iran is attempting to replenish its armed forces amidst a state of ceasefire. The delivery, according to Trump, was “something not very nice,” implying that it probably consisted of some kind of strategic or sensitive material.

This situation clearly contradicts the earlier guarantees that Trump reportedly received from China’s president, Xi Jinping. As per Trump, an agreement had been reached between the two leaders regarding China not delivering any military assistance to Iran.

It is noteworthy to mention that Iran and China have always shared strong relations throughout the years, especially in terms of economic and strategic cooperation.
