US vs Iran war: Trump orders extension of ceasefire with Iran, maintains naval blockade

The US President, Trump, ordered American troops to prolong the existing ceasefire with Iran while keeping the maritime blockage intact until Washington gets a collective response from the Iranian regime.

According to Trump, in a tweet posted on Truth Social, the Iranian regime was “very split.” Trump believes that the split within the Iranian regime is making it challenging for them to negotiate with America.

The decision came following the plea made by Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, and Field Marshal, Asim Munir, to halt the attack on Iran.

“Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so and, upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal,” the US president wrote.

“I have therefore directed our Military to continue the Blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will therefore extend the Ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or the other.”

Central Post Nigeria report that, this development occurred amidst the rising tension between the US and Iran following an earlier confrontation in which the latter refused to cede the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway crucial for international oil transport.

In the negotiations process, Pakistan has been involved in facilitating communication between the two parties through mediation efforts by both Sharif and Munir to avoid further escalation.

There has not yet been any mention of how long Iran will have before submitting their combined proposal.
