ADC convention : Peter Obi holds crucial meeting with Gov Seyi Makinde in Ibadan
Peter Obi, who was a candidate for president under the banner of the Labour Party, is yet to stop his series of consultations in the political terrain as he held another top-level consultation in the state capital of Oyo, Ibadan.
The closed-door consultation session has once again raised speculations within Nigeria’s political arena, considering the fact that more time is passing each day ahead of the general elections in 2027.
High-Level Delegation
Obi did not go into the meeting alone, as he made it there with a delegation made up of well-respected Igbo elders, senators of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the South-East region, and other political allies.
As Part of Wider Political Moves
Even though there have not been any official statements about the outcome of this particular engagement, observers believe that Obi’s moves constitute wider efforts towards engaging important stakeholders throughout Nigeria. This latest activity fits in with the larger pattern observed over the past days and weeks.
Notably, it should be mentioned that this Ibadan meeting came after he met another former Nigerian president. On Wednesday, he had a closed meeting with Mr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who used to serve as Nigeria’s fourth president.
In recent days, Peter Obi seems to be consulting with various groups across the country and making important moves, which make many people wonder what exactly he is going to do next.
There has been much talk recently concerning ADC primary elections and the emergence of opposition parties. Therefore, everyone keeps speculating as to what exactly he is doing in Ibadan and other places.
For the time being, it is unknown whether Obi intends to address the press regarding his Ibadan visit. Still, this engagement indicates that preparations are being made for the next big political battle scheduled for 2027.
